News?
I know he's doing a ton of work with his music project which is fantastic. My brother is in marching band and a donation from barry would benefit the program greatly!
His show in Las Vegas is also popular still. I wonder when his new album is comming out because if he's going to be in Atlantic city again. I AM GOING! I have money now that i will spend on tickets...if i can't get them for free from a friend of my grandma's.

Let me clarify first.......
Also I'm not saying the album doesn't have great classic songs on it or the songs are garbage. I'm just saying I do not like them.
Crazy Manilow Fans.....and other things that might mean something
Frankly, just listening to the 30 second clips on I-tunes puts me to sleep!

Barry Manilow's music to get cinematic
Film being developed around singer's catalog
|
Single Cell partners Sandy Stern and Michael Stipe and Playtone partners Gary Goetzman and Tom Hanks have joined forces to develop a romantic comedy that will exploit the song catalogue of singer/songwriter Barry Manilow. Manilow's manager, Garry Kief, will also produce.
Deal follows Sony's recent deal to make a theatrical release of rehearsal footage from Michael Jackson's final concert, and Disney's negotiations to make a Robert Zemeckis-directed "Yellow Submarine" remake in performance capture 3-D that will use classic Beatles songs.
Manilow has pledged his support, and songs, to the project. The producers will first take the project to Universal, where Playtone has its first-look deal.
Though Playtone produced the U blockbuster "Mamma Mia!," the idea for the film is closer in tone to "Love Actually." Characters will not follow a plot and burst into song, as Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and others did with Abba tunes in "Mamma Mia!"
The project was hatched by Stern, who hooked Manilow with the idea of making a character-driven romantic comedy with intersecting storylines involving Manilow fans who are all arriving in Las Vegas on a weekend where Manilow will headline at the Mandalay Bay. His music will be heard throughout the movie. Manilow will also perform a song or two in the film.
Manilow, who was repped in the deal by WME, will be a collaborator in shaping the project once a writer is hired. This is the first time Manilow has given access to his catalogue for a film.
Troy Queen and Mark Grove will also be involved as producers.

Looking back and questions.....
Wow low blow there!! The picture they have is of Barry on stage during the 60's segment with the fake (hopefully) joint. So here is what the article says:
"During the last year of his life, Mercer became a Fanilow, partly because Barry Manilow’s first hit record was a ditty entitled "Mandy," which was also the nickname of Mercer’s daughter Amanda. After Mercer’s death, his widow give Manilow unfinished lyrics her hubby had written, asking him to develop them into complete songs. Among those works was a piece titled “When October Goes,” a bittersweet remembrance of lost love. Manilow applied his own melody to the lyric and the 1984 single became a Top 10 hit. Luckily it didn't go to pot even if Barry was smokin' the weed backstage in Vegas. Tell us it's not true, Barry! Tell us only your career is smokin'! Tell us that doing such a stupid thing to promote your CD is sad, sad, sad."
As I look back on Barry's bit I realize how ridiculous it is. But this is just an opinion. To start, I am very, very, VERY, against the use of drugs and alcohol; I believe people who do drugs are idiots.
So getting that out of the way, I kind of agree with the guy/girl that wrote the article. A sixty something year old guy pretending to smoke weed on stage..... kind of sad. Stooping to an illegal level to promote an album is pretty bad.* Though I do not agree with the whole joke on stage I have to say the person writing the article could have checked his facts!! He could have gotten Barry in a shit-load of trouble!!! (Excuse my fowl language) It's pretty low to be calling Barry out for a stupid joke when the article has nothing to do with him and the author didn't even check his facts!! Ugh makes me angry.
This article was written a couple days ago, does Barry still do this bit even?
I believe I'm rambling and not making much sense, I'm watching Ace of Cakes on Food Network so my attention is divided.
The picture. Oye.....
*So I was saying about the illegal level to promote an album, I saw the the bit back in 2006 before the sixties album came out and it was pretty damn funny, even if I'm anti-drug.
Now, to the question I mentioned in the title of this post. Does anybody know anything about Barry's musical? Harmony? Is that ever going to happen does anyone know?
Also, does anyone know when the new "rock" influenced album is coming out?
I'm assuming these questions won't be answered because no one reads my blog anyway but I guess it doesn't hurt to try huh?
Man, does the author of that Johnny Mercer article really think Barry Manilow is a pot head? Like come on, look at the guy!

Chirpings about a Manilow Twitter
Recently I heard about Barry possibly being on Twitter. You have no idea how thrilled i was. So i followed a bunch of the Barrys on there (SMSSG, BarryManilow, and the UltimateManilow one)
I'm logged on now and I believe the BarryManilow account has been taken down/ suspended and the Ultimate Manilow has deffinently been taken down. Which leads me to believe that the BarryManilow account was a fake and the Ultimate manilow was either a fake or a short lived Manilow Administration experiment. The SMSSG account to me is an obvious fake, the tweeter (a person who posts tweets) is very concieted and kind of odd. The poster talks about stuff then refers to Marc like he's talking directly to Marc. If there was a real Barry Twitter account I'm sure the Hotline would be talking it up like mad or we would all know about it already through the Manilow Grapevine.
Frankly, I don't think Barry would go for Twitter. Too much information being spread to easy of a chance to accidently spread around information to fans that he wanted to keep private. What I've seen from Barry and what I've interpreted from it is that he's a private dude and he doesn't want people all up in his business.
But I don't doubt that Barry's organization will eventually get a Manilow Twitter up and running. They got on board with Myspace pretty late in the game and Facebook as well. So I think if the Manilow people see that there is enough interest in the world for Twitter or notices talks from fans there will eventually be a Company run Barry Manilow Twitter account. If and when there is a Manilow twitter account it'll be a lot like the Manilow website and the Myspace blog. Barely any updates till there is something to promote.
Tottaly lost track of the time, I have to go to sleep! Glad I finally got back on here, I've been away for a long time. I've had a lot of school stuff to do. Well Good Night!
