It was a bittersweet day for Fleming, who told her 620 guests that she is leaving the magazine after 12 years. The eighth annual luncheon featured a champagne reception with a drawing for 32 items, which raised $30,000 to benefit The Meadows School Scholarship Fund and Miracle Flights for Kids.Guests included Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian, Phyllis McGuire, Claudine Williams, Kitty Rodman, Melinda Cook, Irene Schwartz, Rebecca Boman, Nancy Houssels, Joan Deiro, Sharon Jenkins, Paula Brown, Linda Steen, Cara Roberts, Karen Zamboni, Jena Dougton, Jan Rude, Kimberly Maxwell, Katy Barin, Patsy Brinton, Lara Kolberg, Dee Ladd, Bill Martin and Siegfried Fischbacher. McGuire introduced surprise guest Barry Manilow, who sang a few of his hits, and then joined him for a duet of "Sincerely" and "Teach Me Tonight."

When the applause died down, there was a loud motor noise from the rear of the ballroom as a Harley-Davidson motorcycle roared down the aisle carrying Mayor Oscar Goodman. He introduced the luncheon's featured speaker, his wife, Carolyn, founder of The Meadows School.

Vintage Vegas: St. Viator School Foundation celebrated the school's 40th anniversary at a gala dinner and auction at South Point Saturday.

Arriving guests were greeted by an Elvis impersonator and a showgirl.

The event honored two couples: Cathy and Marty Flynn and Susan and Joaquin Crame, who have exhibited stewardship to the Catholic community through their gifts of time and devotion.

A live monkey dressed in a red and gold trimmed suit entertained the crowd as music of Havana by Ricardo Griego and Ramona Esparza filled the air. Showgirls, acrobats and stilt walkers added to the festive atmosphere.

The ballroom was decorated in flowing white chiffon from top to bottom. Tables displayed tall antiqued silver candelabra topped with dozens of white roses or tall glass vases filled with white feather plumes.

During dinner, the acrobatic act of Enkhbat and Amara performed, courtesy of attending guest Franz Czeisler Tihany of Mexico's Tihany Circus. Entertainer Clint Holmes also performed.
